Below is an image grid using the Google Sites 3 column content block.  The heading and normal text content boxes were removed leaving just the square.  Images can then be uploaded to each square by clicking on the "+" symbol and selecting upload, select image or from drive (meanng Google Drive).

Below is an actual working Collapsible Group.  It was created by selecting "Collapsible group" from the right-hand edit menu located beneath the Content Blocks section.  Click on the down arrow to the far right  of the heading to see the text.  You can move the arrows up for showing the content or down to collapse and hide the content.
